Obverse: seated woman, to left, amid implements of science and industry; F.N. Mitchell SC in exergue. Legend on coat of arms: Be Just and Fear Not. Reverse: Massachusetts Charitable Mechanic Association / Founded 1795 / Incor. / 1806 around ornamental wreath containing small vignettes of an eagle, arm holding a hammer, an Indian with a bow and arrow, and a harbor-city scene (Boston?). The center is engraved: Award To / George Lane For Manufacturer / Bartlett's / Polar Refrigerator / Exhibition of / 1860.
