1860 Henry rifle, .44 rimfire caliber, mid range production with sling swivels, scratched-in inscription on sideplates, serial #5733. The barrel remains in good to very good condition with traces of original blue mixed in a browningpatina. Some scratches, dings, mars, and a couple areas of light to moderate pitting, but generally very good with extremely sharp barrel address, original sight. THe frame is good with a couple of impressions near lever screw, some scratches, anice even patina, and some slight prying on the sideplates but generally good overall. The stock is good with some weathering, opening of the grain, normal carry and use, a couple small losses at the edges, and a small amount of fill behindthe buttstock swivel. The buttplate shows an even nice patina. The screws are rusted in the buttplate and the stock looks to have never been off. The left sideplate is lightly scratch engraved "To Melrose from Walsh/Feb 1890" withwhat may be "Gift". On the reverse side, "Jerome Walsh, July 14, 1870". These inscriptions are genuine to the period in our opinion and may be researchable and could be blown up through photograph and computer enhancement. Our
