<B>1860<H10C> Transitional MS60 ANACS.</B></I> Judd-267. This is the so-called "Coin Without a Country" as it lacks any mention of the United States as the issuing authority. Only 100 coins were struck of this fantasy piece that was concocted by then Mint Director, James Ross Snowden, as "trade bait" that he could use to enhance the Mint's collection of U.S. coins. This is a lower end coin with noticeable handling marks on each side. The surfaces are moderately toned with gray-green hues. While labeled as a pattern, these pieces are not really legitimate pattern or die trial strikings as no coinage was ever intended from this muling.
