Here's what the Project does with that beat up old table at any auction - great turned legs, dirty old paint, worn out top - you've seen it!

Pioneer Preservation Project folks call these small tables "Gun Smoke" because of their pioneer country origins in the mid-1800's. Solid hickory or hard rock maple legs and apron on this table are original and date to the 1860's. The old wood and great turnings on these legs are what make it a heritage piece. Project artisans added a solid oak top; notice how board selection was varied to blend with the original carriage and legs. This table was from an estate in Webster City, Iowa, and had served the same family for more than a century. Don't you wish we could age so gracefully! This piece of pioneer Americana has been transformed to stand proudly once again in your entryway or office.
