1860 G$1 MS67 PCGS. The 1860 Gold Dollar is the rarest Philadelphia Mint issue prior to 1863. Less than 40,000 pieces were struck, and unlike the later low mintage issues, few were set aside. A scarce issue in all grades, it is practically unknown above Gem. In fact, NGC has graded just one coin in MS65 with none finer, while PCGS has graded just 5 coins in MS65 or better, with one coin as MS66 and only the present specimen as MS67. This gorgeous coin is well struck in the centers, although a couple of letters opposite the upper wreath are not completely brought up. A prooflike and essentially pristine Superb Gem, with a few faint roller marks (as made) at the right reverse border. Important notice: We expect to be auctioning lots at the rate of 200-250 per hour. Sometimes eBay Premier live bid software cannot keep up with that pace, so we strongly recommend that you place a realistic proxy bid now as insurance to avoid disappointment. Also please note that all Heritage/CAA lots purchased through eBay Premier carry a 20% Buyer's Premium. Please make sure you read the Terms and Conditions.
