1860-D $5 Medium D AU58 PCGS. Variety 38-FF, Medium D. The 1860-D half eagle has one of the lower mintages from the Dahlonega Mint (14,635 pieces). Most survivors appear to be in the XF-AU grade ranges, as indicated by the population figures that show approximately 180 certified XF and AU specimens. This high-end AU coin displays pleasing orange-gold color and ample luster in the areas around the design elements. Unlike many 1860-D half eagles, this particular example received a better-than-average strike, as most of the design elements exhibit sharp definition. Just a couple of the star centers and the arrow feathers reveal traces of softness. An all-around sharp coin. Population: 18 in 58, 16 finer (7/07).

Coin Engraver: Christian Gobrecht

Shipping: Coins & Currency (view shipping information\)
