1860-C $2 1/2 MS61 NGC. Variety 19-J. Though softness is present on the eagle's legs and talons, this coin's overall definition is better than the norm. Lightly abraded overall with delicate yellow-gold surfaces that are satiny with a subtly reflective gleam. The minor roughness and the depression below the eagle's right (facing) wing are typical for this issue.
Despite its status as one of the more available issues for the mint and denomination, like virtually all Charlotte gold issues, the 1860-C is conditionally rare in Mint State. Production amounted to just 7,469 pieces, and those coins experienced heavy circulation until the outbreak of war. An important representative of this historic issue, the last of the quarter eagles struck in North Carolina. Census: 6 in 61, 5 finer (7/07).

Coin Engraver: Christian Gobrecht

Shipping: Coins & Currency (view shipping information\)
