Rare 1860 Display Abraham Lincoln Presidential Campaign Silk Portrait Ribbon with a Tintype of the Man who Wore it!
1860 Abraham Lincoln Presidential Campaign Silk Portrait Ribbon together with a Tintype Photograph of the Man who Wore it in his hometown political Lincoln rally parade, Framed for display, Very Fine.
Important framed Abraham Lincoln political display presentation, measuring 7.5” x 9.5” including a 2.5" x 6.75" Silk Portrait First Presidential Campaign Ribbon for the 1860 Republican candidate. This ribbon attested to having been actually worn , having wear and tone with fading of the original aqua color together with a ninth-plate Tintype Photograph of its youthful owner. Below his image and to the right of the Portrait Ribbon he has handwritten an extraordinary caption reading:

"This Badge was worn in a Lincoln Parade the fall of 1860 in the City of New Castle Pa by Smith R Reed. I also voted for Lincoln for President the fall of 1864 at Fairfax Virginia."

Apparently, Smith R Reed not only enlisted “underage” in the Union Army, but he Voted “underage” in the presidential general election of 1860. A remarkable and very personal period framed display including the very Tintype Photo of the voter, along with the Silk Portrait Campaign Ribbon badge he wore in his hometown Political Lincoln campaign parade, and then became an “underage” Union volunteer and Civil War Army veteran as well! frame not touched and not examined outside of its original black painted wooden frame.
