<B>1860 $5 Clark, Gruber & Co. Five Dollar MS62 NGC.</B></I> K-2, R.4. Similar in design to the then-current half eagle, this Clark-Gruber example boasts a good deal of olive-gold, semiprooflike luster over its surfaces. The high relief design is fully detailed, except for the usual weakness on the hair above Liberty's ear. For the most part the surfaces are unsullied by the marks so often found on even Mint State Territorials; a single abrasion near star 11 appears to be the grade-limiting factor. A good choice for the collector seeking a type example of this Colorado issue.
