1860 $2 1/2 Clark, Gruber & Co. Quarter Eagle MS62 NGC. K-1, R.4. This beautiful greenish-gold piece has much luster radiating from each side of this brilliant coin. The fields are moderately prooflike, although the piece is undesignated as such by NGC. While there are a few bagmarks, reeding marks, and other evidence of contact, there is strictly no sign of wear or rub, and the strike is fairly well impressed. CLARK & CO. is bold in the coronet inset, Liberty's forelock and the hair above the coronet are well sculpted, and most of the stars show central details. On the reverse the eagle's claws and wings are bold, although some weakness shows on the left side of the shield. But this piece's chief attribute is its radiant luster and overall eye appeal. Listed on page 362 of the 2007 Guide Book. Census: 3 in 62, 6 finer (10/06).

Shipping: Coin/Currency (view shipping information)
