1860 1C PR65 PCGS. At and above the Gem level of preservation, the 1860 is the second rarest issue in the proof copper-nickel Indian Cent series. This issue is also known for a generally sub-par quality of strike that has led Ron Sirna (2002) to conclude that the Mint may have impressed many specimens only once. We are surprised, therefore, to see appreciably reflective fields and overall sharp definition on both sides of the present representative. The otherwise orange-tan surfaces reveal blushes of lilac-blue iridescence in and around the central obverse. A couple of tiny ticks before the date are noted. Population: 19 in 65, there are a mere four finer (1/03).From the Colburn Collection. Important notice: We expect to be auctioning lots at the rate of 200-250 per hour. On occasion eBay live bid software cannot keep up with the pace of the auctions where 4-5 lots per minute can hammer down, so we recommend that you place a realistic absentee bid now as insurance to avoid disappointment. Also please note that all Heritage/CAA lots purchased through eBay Live carry a 20% Buyer's Premium. Please make sure you read the Terms and Conditions.
