<B>1859 Double Eagle, Judd-257, Pollock-305, High R.6, PR62 Gilt NGC.</B></I> A seated figure of Liberty faces left on the obverse supporting a fasces with her right hand and a shield with her left. An eagle is standing behind the shield. The denomination 20 DOLLARS, the date, 1859, and the legend UNITED STATES OF AMERICA are within a heavy oak and laurel wreath. Both designs were created by Anthony Paquet. Struck in copper with a reeded edge, later gilt. A radiant example, well struck save for stars 7 to 10. The upper right obverse is minutely granular and has a few thin marks. The reverse rim is unusually high between 7 o'clock and 1 o'clock.
