An extremely rare, untouched original Smith & Wesson Model No.1, 2nd issue tip up revolver. The No.1, 1st issue was manufactured in 1857, with the No.1, 2nd issue in 1859. This petite .22 Rim Fire Short Calibre pistol was the beginning of a historical dynasty for the Smith & Wesson Firearms Company. There is still 75% original blue along with most all the nickel plate finish. The beautiful rosewood grips still retain their factory finish. The action is crisp and tight, great markings and a decent bore. The trigger spring is just a little tired but still works fine. This Civil War era pistol has been in a Vermont estate and family since the mid 1930 era. An excellent opportunity to invest in a rare piece of Americana from the 1850's. Ref: Smith & Wesson 1857-1945, Robert J. Neal & Roy G. Jinks, A.S.Barnes & Co. Circa: 1859 - 1868. SHI $75.
