<B>1859-S G$1 AU55 PCGS.</B></I> Jeff Garrett and Ron Guth say of the 1859-S gold dollar that: "The small mintage (15,000 pieces) was quickly circulated, with very few survivors." Indeed, fewer than 230 specimens have been certified by PCGS and NGC; Mint State examples are far and few in between. This Choice AU coin displays ample luster and canary-gold patination, along with well struck design features.
