1859 P50C Half Dollar, Judd-240, Pollock-296, R.5, PR65 Red PCGS. The Longacre design for the Half D
1859 P50C Half Dollar, Judd-240, Pollock-296, R.5, PR65 Red PCGS. The Longacre design for the Half Dollar that features a bust of Liberty facing right, draped with a ribbon inscribed LIBERTY and a wide wreath of oak and vine on her head. The reverse depicts a cereal wreath within which is the denomination 1/2 DOLLAR. Struck in copper with a reeded edge. The only example of Judd-240 certified as Red by PCGS (10/02), this is a gorgeous proof with striated (as produced) fields that glow with brightness as the coin rotates under the light. The luster is full and reddish-orange in color, and every device displays razor sharp striking detail. A small nick on Liberty's cheek is the only noticeable contact mark, and it should serve as a useful pedigree marker. From the Harold Hoogasian Collection.
