<B>1859<P50C> Half Dollar, Judd-237, Pollock-293, R.4, PR63 PCGS.</B></I> A "French Head" bust of Liberty faces right, draped with a ribbon inscribed LIBERTY and a wide wreath of oak and vine on her head. The reverse has HALF DOLLAR in the center and is surrounded by a wreath of cotton, tobacco, sugar cane, corn, wheat, and oak. Although credit for the design is traditionally assigned to Longacre, Saul Teichman of uspatterns.com suggests that Paquet may in fact have been the designer. Struck in silver with a reeded edge. Pearl-gray, sky-blue, and plum tints grace this bold example. Impressive despite faint luster grazes near the profile. Mint-made die rust is noted on the reverse at 9 and 12 o'clock.
