<B>1859<P50C> Half Dollar, Judd-235, Pollock-284, R.5, PR64 NGC.</B></I> Anthony Paquet's design for the Seated Liberty series, here in the Half Dollar format. Liberty is seated left. Her left hand rests on an upright shield, and her right arm extends to support a fasces. The reverse features an eagle with outstretched wings, a scroll inscribed E PLURIBUS UNUM in its beak, and the usual statutory legends above and below. Struck in silver with a reeded edge. This is the broken ribbon variety with the end of the ribbon on the reverse floating in the field. A lovely Proof example with rich champagne toning and minor striking softness on Liberty's shield hand.
