<B>1859-D $5 Large D AU55 PCGS.</B></I> Variety 37-EE. Incorrectly certified by PCGS as a Medium D. The Large D variety is rare. Breen was unaware of it, and Douglas Winter omitted the variety in his 1997 Gold Coins of the Dahlonega Mint. One appeared in the Bass II auction, and a few have surfaced since. This partly lustrous and untoned example has the usual incompleteness of strike on the major devices.
