<B>1859-C G$1 MS61 NGC.</B></I> Variety 11-M. A smooth and shimmering rare date C-mint gold dollar. The almond-gold surfaces are radiant and lack relevant marks. The wreath is well struck, and the portrait has pleasing definition despite a couple of minor mint-made strike-throughs. The mintmark is bold, and the date is sharp aside from the lowest portion of the 8. The rims are occasionally softly brought up. A scant 5,235 pieces were struck, and there are insufficient Mint State survivors to meet the demand from the many collectors of this popular North Carolina mint.
