<B>1859 1C MS66 NGC.</B></I> Given the high mintage (36 million plus business strikes), 1859 cents have survived in reasonable quantities. High-quality Mint State coins with crisp details, however, are very hard to locate. The lustrous Premium Gem in this lot is thus a great opportunity for the type or date collector seeking a specimen with outstanding eye appeal. Aside from the usual softness on the feather tips, the design elements are sharply impressed, better so than typically seen on this copper-nickel type; all four diamonds are fully defined. Pleasing and uniform golden-tan color resides on well preserved surfaces that reveal just a few minor ticks that do not challenge the numerical grade.
