<B>1859<10C> PR66 NGC.</B></I> This is one of our favorite type coins in the Seated dime series. Stars dimes are generally only available in proof format in two years, 1858 and 1859. All the other, earlier dates cost significantly more than these two dates. The 1859 is also much scarcer than its official mintage of 800 pieces would indicate, as many were melted as unsold at year's end. This piece has hazy brilliance over each side and the fields are deeply mirrored. An outstanding example of this scarce and underrated proof issue. Census: 25 in 66, 7 finer (9/06).
