1858 Pattern 1C. J-210 PCGS Proof 64
1858 Pattern Cent. Bronze, plain edge. Judd-210. Pollock-260. PCGS graded Proof 64. Struck in bronze (rather than copper, J-209) and considered by Judd to be Unique! This is the strikingly beautiful deep mint red color Eliasberg specimen in an old green tagged PCGS holder #4491993. Since the coin is Unique, it is also easy to find fully struck since there can be no weak coins when only one is known. The present coin retains 100% detail to the feathers, shield and wreath from a strictly razor-sharp strike. Along with the uniqueness and Eliasberg provenance, it is a coin fit for a home in a first-class Pattern collection.

This issues of Judd-208 to Judd-210 comprise the so-called "transitional" Indian head cents adopted in 1859 with ONE CENT in a laurel wreath. Judd-208, on a copper-nickel 72-grain standard planchet is common in all grades. Judd-209 is listed as Rarity-8 while Judd-210 is listed as Unique (Note, Pollock unceremoniously lumps #209 & #210 together as P-260.).
