1858 P1C Flying Eagle Cent, Judd-202,
1858 P1C Flying Eagle Cent, Judd-202, Pollock-246, R.7, PR63 PCGS. Snow-PT20. The small eagle obverse with open claws and raised wings. The tall, thin obverse letters probably represent Paquet's style. The reverse is similar to the regular issue 1859 Indian cent. Snow states, "A very rare pattern, probably no more than 10 struck in all. These were probably struck after the 6 leaf laurel wreath reverse was adopted in 1859." In other words, PT20 is likely a restrike from muled dies. The variety with six leaf clusters within the laurel wreath is much scarcer than the Pollock-245, Snow-PT19 five leaf clusters variety. Struck in copper-nickel with a plain edge. The fields are brightly reflective with a significant overlay of reddish patina on each side. Lightly spotted.

Shipping: Coins & Currency (view shipping information)
