<B>1858-C $2 1/2 MS60 NGC.</B></I> Variety 18-J. The only variety for the year. Despite its low mintage of 9,056 pieces, the 1858-C quarter eagle issue is available to collectors across most grades, even About Uncirculated. Still, Mint State examples are elusive and face added demand from branch mint gold type collectors. This lemon-gold and sun-gold example has crisply detailed devices and fully lustrous fields. Though a number of wispy abrasions affect each side, the overall eye appeal is better than the MS60 designation would suggest. Resubmissions affect the population listing.
