1858/7 1C MS64 NGC. Snow-1. This coin is an intermediate die state between Die Stage B and Die Stage C. In layman's terms, this means that remnants of the 7 underdigit are perceptible, but only barely, and just at certain angles. Flickers of pale pinkish color intermingle with dominant tan-brown shadings. Both sides are satiny in texture with an otherwise bold strike that wanes over the right peripheries. We stress, however, that the latter feature is relatively common for this overdate since most examples were struck from what Snow (2001) terms "skewed dies." There is not a single mentionable abrasion or carbon fleck, and remnants of the misplaced 1 in the obverse field below the eagle are discernible under a loupe. Snow asserts that the 1858/7 is "typically collected as part of the basic [Flying Eagle Cent] set," and we definitely anticipate significant bidder competition for this conditionally scarce Choice representative. Important notice: We expect to be auctioning lots at the rate of 200-250 per hour. On occasion eBay live bid software cannot keep up with the pace of the auctions where 4-5 lots per minute can hammer down, so we recommend that you place a realistic absentee bid now as insurance to avoid disappointment. Also please note that all Heritage/CAA lots purchased through eBay Live carry a 20% Buyer's Premium. Please make sure you read the Terms and Conditions.
