1858/7 1C MS62 PCGS. FS-006, Snow-1. Large Letters, High Leaves, Closed E. Struck from Die Stage A that shows a strong remnant of the corner of the 7, the broken wing tip is strong, and the left base of the errant 1 is strong in the field above the first 8. The overdate is now considered an integral part of the Flying Eagle series, and is by far the most challenging issue, especially in mint condition. This piece shows deep, mottled red and brown patina over each side with none of the "whiteness" of the copper-nickel composition evident. Overdates are usually weakly struck, which is the primary deterrent to many of them grading MS64 or 65, and this piece is notably soft on the eagle's tailfeathers, head, and over the highpoints of the wreath. A rare find in Uncirculated condition, this piece is sure to find its way into a major collection of Flying Eagle cents. Population: 9 in 62, 47 finer (10/06).

Shipping: Coin/Currency (view shipping information)
