1858 3CS MS66 NGC. Long heralded as the most difficult Three Cent Silver type to locate in the finer Mint State grades, Type Two examples of 1854-1858 are typically offered poorly struck, worn, or both. Not so the present Gem. The definition is bold, if not sharp in all areas, and the surfaces are overlaid in rippling mint luster that is undisturbed by noteworthy blemishes. The centers are toned in lovely reddish-champagne color within rich cobalt-blue peripheral shadings that are less extensive on the obverse. There is a streak of deeper color through the center on the same side. An important coin for the Gem quality type collector. Population: 13 in 66, 12 finer (11/02). Important notice: We expect to be auctioning lots at the rate of 200-250 per hour. Sometimes eBay Premier live bid software cannot keep up with that pace, so we strongly recommend that you place a realistic proxy bid now as insurance to avoid disappointment. Also please note that all Heritage/CAA lots purchased through eBay Premier carry a 20% Buyer's Premium. Please make sure you read the Terms and Conditions.
