1858<25C> MS65 NGC. The sizeable yearly Quarter production initiated by the Philadelphia Mint in 1853 continued through 1858. The latter is one of the more common type representatives of the No Motto Seated Quarter, although we caution collectors that strong bids are required to secure certified Gem quality survivors. Struck from recently polished dies, both sides of this coin exhibit striated, moderately bright fields. The otherwise untoned, silver-white surfaces reveal blushes of champagne-russet iridescence in a few isolated peripheral areas. Generally sharply struck, although accuracy compels us to mention some softness of detail over the left reverse shield. There are a few moderate scrapes in the upper field on the same side, but the obverse appears smooth enough to support an even higher grade. Population: 22 in 65, 17 finer (6/05).
