Half Dollars 1857 NGC graded Mint State 66. <b>Superb by any definition you choose to use, whether this encompasses the luster, the surface integrity or the delightful toning. We begin with the toning since it is remarkable for its fresh look and originality. The color really grabs your attention inasmuch as it includes some pale champagne gold to steel-like blue iridescence on a foundation of neutral tone "antique silver". This has "the look" that every experienced collector & numismatist strives for when building a coin collection. Indications are that it has been stored more carefully than most seated half dollars of its vintage, stored we are sure from the very day it was issued by a bank. Only Liberty's forehead and two nearby stars are weak, along with the eagle's left claw and leg feathers; in other areas the design is undeniably crisp with detail. The large digits comprising the date are believed by the Breen encyclopedia author to be from a logotype meant for the large cent of 1857. (Perfect date on this specimen; there is another die that has wildly offset recutting into the base of the rock.)</b> <p align="center">Superior Galleries was founded in 1929 and has been a leader in
