1857-S $20 Spiked Shield MS65 PCGS. A gorgeous coin from the S.S. Central America treasure that was discovered several years ago off the coast of North Carolina, and still housed in the special PCGS presentation holder with the gold-foil insert. It is an example of the Spiked Shield variety, with a prominent raised die line through the left shield border on the reverse. Scientist Bob Evans, who was in charge of the treasure recovery operations, studied individual die characteristics of the coins recovered and provided attribution identification for numerous varieties. This piece is a frosty and lustrous Gem with sharp design features and impressive orange-gold color.

Shipping: Coins & Currency (view shipping information)
