<B>1857-S $20 Narrow Serif MS65 PCGS.</B></I> SSCA 0618. Variety 20C. The left serif of the U in UNITED is repaired and thin. This is a gorgeous yellow-gold Gem with pleasing luster and remarkably unperturbed surfaces. There is scant indication that this lovely piece spent more than a century at the bottom of the Atlantic Ocean before being rescued from its maritime confines. Among the various shipwreck hoards, the <I>S.S. Central America</B></I> was by far the most significant to U.S. numismatics, for its bounty of gold assay bars in addition to its mother lode of Type One double eagles.
