<B>1857-S<$20> Narrow Serif MS64 PCGS.</B></I> SSCA 0474. Variety 20C. The Narrow Serif variety is distinguished by a minute mint repair on the left serif of the U in UNITED. In his July 2000 <I>Numismatist</B></I> article on '57-S varieties, Robert Evans aptly noted this mint repair "resembles [the] shoulders and neck of [a] bottle lying on its side." This lustrous and intricately struck near-Gem is splendidly preserved aside from a wispy thin graze that points to Liberty's nose. <BR><I>From The Hamburg-Sonoma Collection.</B></I>
