1857-S $20 Bold S MS65 PCGS. Ex: S.S. Central America. 20B. It is truly remarkable that modern technology was able to rescue so many coins that were previously thought to be lost, circulated, melted, or otherwise unavailable to collectors. The prospect of owning a Gem Type One double eagle was simply not realistic for most collectors a generation ago, not only because of the cost of the few pieces that were known but because of the unavailability of these coins in high grade. The luster on this piece is as bright and frosted as the day it was minted 150 years ago. The luster is rich orange-gold and deepens significantly to reddish gold around the perimeter of the reverse. Fully struck in all areas. As one would expect from a coin in this grade, there are no mentionable abrasions on either side of this magnificent Type One twenty.

Shipping: Coins & Currency (view shipping information)
