<B>1857-D $2 1/2 MS62 PCGS.</B></I> Variety 20-M, the only known dies. Only 2,364 pieces were struck of the 1857 Dahlonega issue. Douglas Winter, in the second edition of his book <I>Gold Coins of the Dahlonega Mint,</B></I> estimates that only 110 to 130 specimens exist in all states of preservation. Of these, eight to ten are estimated to be in Mint State condition. This MS62 example displays peach-gold surfaces with faint traces of light green, and the design elements are sharply impressed. A few wispy marks are noted over each side.
