1857 3CS PR64 PCGS. With a low 1 in the date that just misses touching the rim and numerous striations (as produced) slanting down to the right in the obverse field, this coin matches the diagnostics that Breen (1977) provides for this rare proof Trime. The reverse die is the same that the Mint used to deliver proof 1856 Three Cent Silvers, albeit in a later, repolished state. Of course, glowing fields and uncommonly (for the type) sharp striking definition also give away this coin's specimen status. Both sides are veiled in rich charcoal toning with no outwardly distracting handling marks. A strike through (Mint-made) in the obverse field at the date is perfect for pedigree purposes. Population: 15 in 64, only 8 finer (9/02). Important notice: We expect to be auctioning lots at the rate of 200-250 per hour. Sometimes eBay Premier live bid software cannot keep up with that pace, so we strongly recommend that you place a realistic proxy bid now as insurance to avoid disappointment. Also please note that all Heritage/CAA lots purchased through eBay Premier carry a 20% Buyer's Premium. Please make sure you read the Terms and Conditions.
