1856-S G$1 Type Two MS61 NGC. The moderately prooflike fields exhibit light, grade-limiting hairlines. Well struck, since any softness is limited to the top of the 8 in the date. The sole S-mint issue of the Type Two design. San Francisco was the only facility to strike the Small Head type in 1856, since its West Coast isolation prevented it from receiving dies of the new design until after the 1856-S gold dollars were struck. Census: 21 in 61, 16 finer (10/06).

Shipping: Coin/Currency (view shipping information)
