<B>1856-S $3 AU58 NGC.</B></I> Ex: Rocky Mountain Collection. Medium S. This issue's mintage of 34,500 pieces is relatively unimpressive for the type, but most surviving examples fall under the VF to low end AU grade range. Those even approaching Uncirculated, such as the present example, are considered legitimately scarce. Both sides exhibit bright yellow-gold surfaces that are quite clean, with ample luster in the recessed areas amidst hints of prooflikeness.
