1856-S $20 No Serif, Left S MS64 PCGS. Ex: S.S. Central America. Variety 17O, SSCA 5635. This is a gorgeous near-Gem example of the issue, as recovered from the treasure of the S.S. Central America late in the 20th century. This example is fully lustrous with satiny yellow-gold surfaces and faint traces of honey-gold toning. Although a few slight abrasions prevent a Gem grade for this piece, it is an exceptional example for the grade. Only due to the recovery of this treasure and two others have type collectors been able to acquire high-quality examples of the Type One double eagles without excessive cost. Encapsulated in a special gold label PCGS holder.

Shipping: Coins & Currency (view shipping information)
