<B>1856-S $20 No Serif, Hi Right S MS63 PCGS.</B></I> The loss of so much gold bullion and coined gold in 1857 affected the country's monetary markets to such an extent that it was one of the contributing factors in the Panic of 1857. There were 1,085 1856-S twenties recovered from the <I>S.S. Central America.</B></I> So many, in fact, that a study of die varieties was done of this and the 1857-S. This is an attractive coin that differs slightly from other SSCA twenties. The luster is not quite as pronounced, but the surfaces are exceptionally clean and show a slight accent of reddish patina. Fully struck, as usually seen.
