1856 P1C Flying Eagle Cent, Judd-184, Pollock-220, Low R.7, PR62 NGC. The obverse shows a flying eagle in a plain field with the legend UNITED STATES OF AMERICA and the date below. The reverse has an oak wreath with the denomination ONE CENT and ornamental shield above. Struck in copper-nickel with a plain edge. While dated 1856, this design is believed by some to be a fantasy piece struck in 1858 or later for sale to collectors, as the reverse die used is not believed to have been created in 1856. The fields on this piece are bright and deeply reflective with lilac and rose overtones on the gray-tan copper-nickel surfaces. Numerous small flyspecks explain the grade.
From The Jones Beach Collection.

Shipping: Coin/Currency (view shipping information)
