<B>1856-O 50C MS65 NGC.</B></I> WB-102. Doubled Date. A perpetually underrated issue, despite the mintage of more than 2.6 million pieces. this coin in Mint State is given a Low R.7 rating (10-12 pieces known) by Randy Wiley and Bill Bugert in their standard reference to the series. The original date slopes diagonally upward from the repunched date, with traces of 18 beneath and 56 above the second punch. This coin offers lovely pinkish-gray, amber-gold, and iridescent blue toning on each side. A few ticks on Liberty's left (facing) arm, midsection, and legs preclude a finer grade. The strike is sharp.
