<B>1856 H10C Half Dime PR66 NGC.</B></I> Ex: P. Kaufman. The splendid Kaufman Premium Gem ranks among the finest survivors, second best of those certified by NGC. Between 35 and 50 pieces are thought to survive today, indicative of advanced mintages in 1856 that approached 100 coins, although the exact mintage was not recorded.<BR> The date is slightly right of center with the shield point entirely left of the 1 and the skirt pendant over the right tip of the 5. That digit is upright and weaker than the others, typical of these proofs.<BR> Rich sea-green toning in the fields surround reddish-gold devices with specks of silver color on both sides. The strike is full with lustrous devices and deep mirrored fields under the deep toning.
