<B>1856 $3 MS62 PCGS.</B></I> The 1856 three dollar gold piece, although relatively common in circulated grades, can be a challenge to locate in mint condition. It is noteworthy to state that PCGS has only graded one example at the Gem level. Apparently the vast majority of the 26,010 coins minted at the Philadelphia Mint that year entered circulation and few were saved. This is one of the few that was set aside. The surfaces are notably free from abrasions and both sides exude rich mint luster.
