<B>1856 1C XF40 ANACS.</B></I> Snow-9. This die combination is a proof-only variety according to Rick Snow, although the present example has no trace of any proof surfaces. Both sides have splendid light tan surfaces with the faintest trace of pale blue color. A minuscule corrosion spot is evident at the top of the obverse, and a few other tiny marks may suffice to identify a prior provenance. Among circulated examples, Snow suggests that XF40 is the optimum grade for collectors.
