1856<1C> PR64 PCGS. Snow-9. Subtly reflective with pinpoint striking details over the major design elements. Mottled orange and lilac overtones are noticed over both sides, but are far less obvious on the reverse. Most easily recognized as an S-9 by the faint die scratch through the U in UNITED down to the eagle's beak. This variety is by far the most frequently encountered of the various 1856 Flying Eagle die marriages. It is believed that proofs from this die pairing were produced from late 1857 through 1860. Desirable quality for this renowned premier small cent issue.
