1856 1C PR64 PCGS. Snow-9. A center dot on the reverse is the key diagnostic for this proof Flying Eagle cent variety. A die line extending from the obverse rim through the U in UNITED to the eagle's beak is also observed. Although technically a pattern, 1856 cents have long been collected as a part of the Flying Eagle and Indian cent series. Breen estimates that 634 or more were struck of all varieties, while the Guide Book shows an approximate mintage of 2,000 pieces. This is a shallow-mirrored proof that shows some subdued color, giving the coin a reddish-tan appearance. A small spot is noted on the obverse rim near 5 o'clock, for pedigree purposes. A lovely example that is unblemished and seems virtually unimprovable for the assigned grade level.

Shipping: Coin/Currency (view shipping information)
