1856 1C PR64 NGC. Snow-9. The usual proof variety, identified by a tiny spike on the left ribbon end and a faint die line that lies parallel to the I in UNITED. This is an unusually attractive piece, because it displays multi-color bands of orange, forest-green, and gold. As expected of a proof striking, the features are razor-sharp, even on the eagle's extremities and the veins of the cotton leaves. This gently mirrored near-Gem is impressively devoid of marks, and would be the highlight of a Flying Eagle and Indian cent collection. As a date, the 1856 has the lowest mintage of any small cent, and since it introduced the denomination, its historical significance is assured.

Shipping: Coins & Currency (view shipping information)
