<B>1856 1C Slanted 5 PR64 Brown NGC.</B></I> N-5, the only known proof dies, Low R.5. With an extant population of perhaps 70 pieces, this issue is one of the more readily available proof large cents. Both sides display a uniform, mahogany-brown appearance with no appreciable reflectivity in the fields. Nevertheless, the razor-sharp strike, the three striations below Liberty's ear, and the die defects on the E in ONE confirm this coin's variety and proof status. Whispers of forest-green patina are seen near the reverse periphery, but there are no bothersome hairlines or contact marks. Housed in an old green label holder. EAC PR55.
