1856 1C PR63 PCGS. Snow-9. The most frequently encountered 1856 Flying Eagle Cent in today's market, Snow-9 is a restrike that Snow (2001) believes was first produced in 1858. Approximately 1,500 examples of this die marriage emerged from the presses in the Philadelphia Mint from 1858 through 1860, all in proof format, and all intended for sale to collectors. The impressive Choice quality survivor that we are offering in this lot displays needle sharp striking detail over all features. Both sides are predominantly medium tan in appearance, but we do note some orange tinting on the obverse. There are no mentionable blemishes--a remarkable feature for a copper-nickel Cent at the PR63 level--but the overall sheen is perhaps a bit too subdued to warrant a higher grade. Important notice: We expect to be auctioning lots at the rate of 200-250 per hour. Sometimes eBay Premier live bid software cannot keep up with that pace, so we strongly recommend that you place a realistic proxy bid now as insurance to avoid disappointment. Also please note that all Heritage/CAA lots purchased through eBay Premier carry a 20% Buyer's Premium. Please make sure you read the Terms and Conditions.
