1856 1C PR63 PCGS. Snow-9. Several examples of the prized 1856 Flying Eagle Cent in this sale came from the same consignor, the present specimen being the finest in this group. The surfaces are mostly evenly colored in medium brown hues. Some deeper shadings, however, have settled around a reverse lamination (as struck) at the C in CENT. A sharp proof representative with no post-production blemishes of note. This variety shares a reverse die with examples of the Snow-5, Snow-6, and Snow-7 marriages. Snow (2001) believes that the Philadelphia Mint prepared the obverse die of Snow-9 in 1857, when it was first used to deliver probably fewer than 35 examples of the Snow-8 variety. Important notice: We expect to be auctioning lots at the rate of 200-250 per hour. On occasion eBay live bid software cannot keep up with the pace of the auctions where 4-5 lots per minute can hammer down, so we recommend that you place a realistic absentee bid now as insurance to avoid disappointment. Also please note that all Heritage/CAA lots purchased through eBay Live carry a 20% Buyer's Premium. Please make sure you read the Terms and Conditions.
